Full Wing Burners
Full Wing Burners are manufactured with all precision stainless steel EDM cut patterns attached to stainless surgical clamps.
The stainless clamps are specially made to accommodate the small patterns of some flies.
Designed to closely imitate the size and silhouette shape of some aquatic insects. The entire wing is capable of being formed at one time along with a small tie down tab.
Most fly tying material can be cut or burned. Full Wing Burners are available in many more shapes and sizes than what are currently on the market. Full Wing Burners have ergonomically angled pattern dies to allow easy access to all sides of the die.
The Full Wing burner has a tension band to provide light squeezing pressure on the material. This allows the user to adjust any material to the correct position before clamping.
A major advantage of Full Wing Burners is that you are able to clamp and lock the wing material in place. This clamping will allow the user to cut the thicker material that is sometimes used in the crafting of body shapes. Patterns dies are epoxied to clamps as not to warp the tool by welding. Cauterizers are availabe from “Hareline Dubbin Co.” or “Fine Science Tools” are the best for burning.

PTM CUSTOM ROD DESIGN
PTM started assembling fly rods in the early 80’s for my-self and a few friends.
We will customize your fly rod blank with a beautiful hand tied fly embedded in a clear epoxy in front of the handle on the fly rod. The art work is not a decal. Guides will be wrapped using the same color base thread and a complimenting color trim wrap.
I compare building a rod for a customer (or myself) to the gratifying satisfaction of fooling a fine fish with a hand-crafted fly or lure. The fish certainly does not know (or care) what kind of effort was needed to produce a fishing instrument that presents a tempting food source worthy of a strike.
The hand tied fly inlay design was created to sign my work. The purpose of the fly art wrapping is to compliment the looks of your rod and to insure that your rod is one of a kind. No two inlayed flies are the same.
My primary concern when building a new blank is to ensure that the rod functions as the manufacturer intended. Particular attention is paid to the building of the blank, guide size and spacing etc., and then the hand tied fly inlay design
We install a comfortable “flor” grade cork rod grip using exotic burl wood tips, and a matching burl wood reel seat. The cork grips and the reel seats are manufactured in house.
We do not sell rods, we can purchase a blank for you or have you ship us a new blank of your choosing.
